What is Trauma-Informed Care?

According to the University at Buffalo, Buffalo Center for Social Research, “Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) understands and considers the pervasive nature of trauma and promotes environments of healing and recovery rather than practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize.”

In other words, TIC can recognizes and responds to signs, symptoms and risk of trauma of people who have been affected or experienced Adverse Childhood Experiencess (ACEs) and/or toxic stress.
