PEERS Welcomes New Director

PEERS director, Mrs. Tondrea Leach, began May 22, 2018. Prior to taking this position, Mrs. Leach worked in the Onslow County Department of Social Services for

8 years as the Forensic Supervisor for Child Protective Services. Mrs. Leach first became involved with PEERS Family Development Center in 2003, when she began volunteering her time to teach parenting classes. She is certified in many of PEERS’ parenting curriculums and is a licensed clinical social worker, with a Master’s Degree from East Carolina University. When asked about her new position, Mrs. Leach commented, “I am proud of the work that PEERS has done thus far, and I want to see PEERS expand to serve even more families. I am excited for this new journey.”

As the new director, Mrs. Leach has collaborated with staff to begin up-

dating PEERS for its 40th anniversary.  She has recruited her husband, Mr. Rolland Leach—a former PEERS board member—to help with project plans as well. These include renovating the Family Development Center and developing a new PEERS logo and website, which will be revealed on July 1st. In support of PEERS’ goal of healthy parenting, Mrs. Leach states, “I believe that for parents to be the best they can be, they must know their past, present, and future. They can draw from their knowledge and experiences in order to grow and develop skills as parents.”
