Trauma Informed Care
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) understands and considers the pervasive nature of trauma and promotes environments of healing and recovery rather than practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize. PEERS works every day to implement trauma informed care into our agency's practices, and to increase awareness of the impacts trauma has on individuals and our community.
PEERS has helped hundreds of families through the outreach program. This includes providing car seats, pack n' plays, diapers, wipes, and baby formula. We are expanding our outreach program to also include hygiene products!
PEERS partners with other agencies in their outreach efforts as well including United Way, Onslow County CHS, and other local agencies.
Please call us if you would like to speak with a staff member about safe sleep and how you can practice this in your home.
If you do not have a safe place for your child to sleep and you have a social worker, please have your social worker call PEERS. If you do not have a social worker, and your child does not have a safe place to sleep, call us and we will see if we can help!
Car Seat Safety
PEERS has two certified child passenger safety technicians, Jin and Sam. If you have a special needs child, Sam is also certified to check special needs car seats, and is the only special needs car seat technician in Eastern North Carolina.
If you would like to have your car seat inspected call 910 333 9725 or properly installed, complete this form to make an appointment with one of our technicians.
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
Since 1998, NCMEC has operated the CyberTipline, a place where the public and electronic service providers can report suspected online and offline child sexual exploitation.
NetSmartz is NCMEC's online safety education program. It provides age-appropriate videos and activities to help teach children be safer online with the goal of helping children to become more aware of potential online risks.
Partner of the Diaper Bank of North Carolina
Currently, PEERS' partnership with the Diaper Bank of North Carolina allows us to provide diapers to 100 children per month, and a package of wipes for each family we serve through the Diaper Bank. This year, we are operating the Diaper Bank from 8AM to 8PM every Wednesday until we reach our quota for the month. We close every day from 1:30 to 2:30 for lunch. Please call us to see if we still have diapers available in your size!
